Membership |
The School Study Council of Ohio (SSCO) is a non-profit consortium created in 1965 by school administrators to meet the needs of the education community. SSCO is owned, operated, and controlled by its members. To view the SSCO 2008-2009 Annual report, please click here.
Who Can Join SSCO?
Membership in SSCO is available to any public school district, any private or parochial school unit or district recognized by the Ohio Department of Education, any college or university that has a program of teacher preparation officially approved by the Ohio Department of Education, any other educational agency, and corporate business partners (subject to approval by the SSCO Board of Trustees). Membership is limited to a maximum of 80 organizations each year.

By joining SSCO you will be provided with a variety of special services and inservice opportunities. |
SSCO Commissions:
Administrative Professionals , Gifted & Talented, Library/Technology, Paradigm Benders, Special Education.
These commissions bring together member representatives to identify common areas of interest to plan activities based on the needs of their colleagues. Members can designate a representative for each commission. They will receive information concerning various SSCO offerings. We ask that your representatives distribute and/or post professional development announcements so that others may also attend. |

Ohio Center for Substitute Teachers: Offers assistance in recruitment of qualified personnel to be trained as substitute teachers. Follow-up online services to SSCO trained substitute teachers are also provided.
- Grant Center: Help can be provided to school personnel at any point in the grant writing process. Assistance is available to locate potential funding opportunities, to write and prepare final drafts for submission, and to review proposals with suggestions for improving content and appearance. Staff are also available to present workshops to groups of educators.
- Request for Proposals and Announcements: Ongoing, daily grant searches, ordering grant RFPs and application materials, and competitive summaries for funding opportunities aligned with client need.
- Evaluation Services: Impact and client satisfaction evaluation, focus groups, online surveys to target groups, data analysis, and written reports.

Paradigm Benders: A group of member superintendents, assistant superintendents, and administrators who meet monthly during the school year for open discussions of cutting edge topics. The group also sponsors a trip each year to visit school districts with distinctive practices.

Graphic Artist Services: Offers customized graphic arts services to members provided by a professional graphic artist.

What are Membership Fees? |
Public School Districts and Private School Units
The membership fee is based on the Estimated Building Enrollment (as listed in the current Ohio Educational Directory) according to the following graduated scale:

Corporate and Business Partners/Associate Members
The membership fee is $500.00 per year. |
