Assessment Guideline Vol 1

Assessing Young Children With Dual Sensory and Multiple Impairments (Ages Birth to Five) Volume 1
Ellin Siegal-Causey

Cost: $8.00 includes shipping and handling
(certified check or money order only)

The focus of this volume is assessing children with dual sensory or severe impairments between birth and age 5. As the understanding of early learning and development has grown, it has become apparent that a complete assessment of a young child's abilities and needs must include assessment of his/her primary environments within the context of interactions with family members and other people familiar to the child. The tools provided in this volume will assist the reader in making sure the assessment process is ongoing and will help to measure the effectiveness of the interventions used.

Assessment Guidelines Vol 2

Assessing the School-Age Student with Dual Sensory and Multiple Impairments (Ages six to fifteen) Volume 2
June E. Downing

Cost: $7.00 includes shipping and handling
(certified check or money order only)

The focus of this volume is to present an assessment process that is individually determined, contextually-based, and leads directly to intervention for school-aged students. The assessment process does not require extensive training of any one individual, but rather the collaborative efforts of those involved in the education of a child. Though this manual specifically targets school-aged children with dual sensory and intellectual impairments, the process described is applicable to a wide range of school-aged children having many different abilities and disabilities.

Assessment Guidelines Vol 3

Assessing the Transition Needs of Young Adults with Dual Sensory and Multiple Impairments - Volume 3
Jane M. Everson

Cost: $7.00 includes shipping and handling
(certified check or money order only)

The focus of this volume is to guide IEP/transition planning teams composed of educators, adult service providers, parents, and family members in assessing the transition needs of individuals with dual sensory and multiple impairments between the ages of 14 and the mid-20's. While recognizing the heterogeneity of the population labeled dual sensory impaired, the examples and resources in this manual are designed to enhance transitional services for young adults with dual vision and hearing impairments and additional disability labels, including mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and other developmental and medical disabilities.

Assessment Guidelines Vol 1,2,3

Set of All Three Assessment Guides

Cost: $20.00 includes shipping and handling (certified check or money order only)

Assessment of children is not a new area; however, the testing procedures have previously focused on the use of standardized tools. Using these procedures with children with dual sensory impairments or severe disabilities generally provides low IQ scores and age scores (developmental) that do not take into account or accommodate for the child's learning style, sensory skills or motor control. Although these scores may provide information to determine which programs or services the child is eligible for or to help make placement decisions, these procedures have done little to help educators determine what to teach. Each volume focuses on a specific age group; Birth to Five, Six to Fifteen, and Sixteen to Adult.

Post Secondary Transition Manual

Post-Secondary Transition Manual:
How to Guide for Parents

Cost: No cost

A child who is deafblind's current education program should increase their likelihood for success in living and working independently to the fullest extent of his/her ability. Planning must begin at age sixteen and may begin earlier, if appropriate. Schools have the responsibility for planning and providing services to promote the child's successful movement from high school to adult life activities. Students and parents should be aware that colleges and universities do not have the same level of responsibility for providing services to students with disabilities. This manual is designed to be a resource for families, schools and other agencies involved in the life of post-secondary transition-aged students in Ohio who are deafblind. While the guide contains information specific to Ohio, it also includes information on national resources and on transition that would apply to all individuals who are deafblind.
