| This fund, established in 2005, is in honor of the outstanding contributions to education by Dr. Walter B. Barbe. Being a renowned authority in the fields of reading and learning disabilities, Dr. Barbe has had a remarkable career as an author, lecturer, editor and professor at both Kent State and The Ohio State University. For twenty-five years he served as editor-in-chief of the widely acclaimed Highlights for Children magazine. Furthermore, Dr. Barbe is a fellow of the American Psychological Assoication and listed in Who's Who in America and American Men of Science. | ||||

| Purpose | The School Study Council of Ohio announces the availability of funding through the Walter B. Barbe Small Grants Program, designed to provide grants to K-12 English Language Arts teachers in SSCO member districts. These grants are intended to provide classroom teachers with the opportunity to supplement their existing English Language Arts program with the implementation of an activity designed to improve the quality of instruction in their classrooms. | |||
